NCUO Message for 2019
Wednesday, February 20, 2019

Greetings All,
I would like to introduce myself to the Cadets, Staff, and Parents of the Australian Army Cadets, as your National Cadet Under Officer for 2019.
I believe the aim of my role is to represent, develop, and care for the greatest resource an organisation such as the AAC can foster, and that is every single cadet who makes up the very core of our organisation, and their personal development. Thus, I will make a promise to always strive to ensure that the policies and procedures within the organisation best permit and encourage positive development of Australian Army Cadets.
During my tenure as NCUO, I will strive to consistently work toward fulfilling the duties of my position, representing the needs and desires of members of the AAC at all levels of command, and ensuring our policies and practices allow for this effectively; and continue to do so. My main priorities throughout the year will be:
- To ensure the voices of all cadets within the organisation are heard and respected;
- To ensure every Brigade, Battalion, and Individual ACU has its needs, demands, and desires fulfilled as best as possible;
- To support the policies created, and implemented within, the AAC so that they continue to represent the values, aims, and vision of the organisation;
- To support development of policies and curriculums within the AAC which successful engage, develop, and train cadets, in accordance with our values, and aims;
- To ensure that the concerns and suggestions of Cadets, Staff Members, and AAC units are properly respected and represented. Either by facilitating change and improvement where desired and possible, or by allowing them to understand why it cannot be implemented;
- To represent the AAC and ADFC in the best light, and be a role-model to all cadets, through embodying and upholding the values of the organisation;
I see part of my role as acting as a figure of support, motivation, and inspiration to all cadets and believe one of the greatest services I can offer to any member of the AAC, is my time and care. So, to any cadet – regardless or rank, age, or unit - who feels their voice is not heard, who has a concern with the organisation, or feels that their experience within the AAC has not been rewarding, enjoyable, and worthwhile; I urge you to address it through the chain of command, where myself and my colleagues will work to ensure it is appropriately addressed
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the upcoming year
Dan Irwin
