Participate in classroom activities:
Much of the theory training that is undertaken by Cadets is undertaken in a classroom. These may vary from high tech lecture rooms to temporary classrooms under canvas style tents. The AAC employs a model of Activity Based Learning that is unique to the organisation.
Activity Based Learning will see the cadets solve a problem and have more ownership of their learning experience.
They will solve problems conduct projects and workshops to engage the junior and senior cadets as well as staff and parents in the process.
Live in the field in tent-age (for example: lower than normal access to shelter, food, hygiene facilities and refrigeration):
Cadets must be able to live in the field under tent-age or an individual shelter, often referred to in the ADF as a hootchie.

Whilst living in the field Cadets may be exposed to lower than normal access to shelter, food, hygiene facilities and refrigeration than they are normally used to.
Cadets at all times are supervised and monitored by qualified Army Cadet Staff.
Participate in survival training:
The variety of activities such as navigation, living in the field and first aid that cadets participate in gives them the practical skills to survive in a field environment.
The skills that they learn are both theoretical and practical and conducted in a variety of field environments.
Survival activities are practical in nature and well supervised by suitably qualified Army Cadet Staff. These activities are well subscribed by cadets of all ages.
