Participate in roping and rappelling:
Cadets participate in abseiling and roping activities as part of obstacle courses and other adventurous activities. Such activities involve wearing a harness and helmet. The harness is then attached to a rope fixed above to a secure point and often, but not always, anchored below by someone else holding the rope. The participant is then able to lower themselves down the rope under controlled conditions with minimal physical exertion.
This process may involve increased psychological stress due to the feeling of insecurity and uncertainty associated with possibly falling from height. On reaching the bottom, the participant may have to lift themselves back up to the top using the rope and other tools, or they may be required to walk or climb back up to the top. Both methods of returning to the top may require extensive physical exertion involving both arms and legs.
