Australian Cadet Forces Service Medal

In 1999 the Australian Cadet Forces Service Medal (ACFSM) was instituted to replace the Cadet Forces Medal. While it is not strictly a Defence long service award and is not available to ADF members, it is located with the long service awards given that the Australian Cadet Corps is actively sponsored by the ADF.
The eligibility for the ACFSM is for Officers of Cadets who have, on or after 14 February 1975, completed 15 years qualifying service. Clasps are awarded for additional 5 year periods of qualifying service.
Both current and former Officers of Cadets are required to apply through their State Headquarters. Former members may submit their application directly to HQ AAC.
Any submissions sent directly to the Directorate of Honours and Awards will not be processed, please ensure that you complete form AC972 and submit to HQ AAC via aac.hq.pers.inbox@defence.gov.au.
Adventure Training Award

The Adventure Training Award is designed as the most physically challenging and demanding field activity Cadets can undertake during their years in the Australian Army Cadets. The reward for successful completion is the prized “boomerang and torch” Adventure Training Award badge. Some of the challenges that faced by the cadets include; watermanship, roping, survival and navigating by day and night in the bush.
