
Warrant Officer Class One Andrew Dyer

Warrant Officer Andrew Dyer was born on 02 October 1972 in Adelaide, South Australia. He enlisted into the Australian Regular Army on 15 September 1992 as a rifleman in the Royal Australian Infantry Corps. At the completion of initial employment training, he was posted to the 2nd/4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment in Townsville.
Over the next 10 years with the 2nd Battalion, Warrant Officer Dyer participated in a number of oversees deployments for operations and exercises. His oversees exercises include company exchange programs to New Zealand, Hawaii and Louisiana.
On promotion to Sergeant, Warrant Officer Dyer fulfilled positions as the Recruiting Officer and Platoon Commander for Bravo Company, 42nd Battalion, The Royal Queensland Regiment. He was subsequently posted to the 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment as the Signals Platoon Sergeant and later posted to the Combat Training Centre as an Observer Trainer where he trained and mentored soldiers for deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan.
On promotion to Warrant Officer Class Two, Warrant Officer Dyer completed multiple roles including; Training Warrant Officer of Delta Company, 31st/42nd Battalion, The Royal Queensland Regiment; Rehabilitation Warrant Officer and Company Sergeant Major for Administration Company of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment; and an Observer trainer for the Combat Training Centre. In 2017, Warrant Officer Dyer transitioned to part time service with the Combat Training Centre.
Upon promotion to Warrant Officer Class One in 2019, Warrant Officer Dyer was appointed as Regimental Sergeant Major of Headquarters North Queensland, Australian Army Cadets Brigade. In 2024 he assumed the role of Army Transitions Warrant Officer with Transfer and Transitions Detachment North Queensland. Commencing in 2025, Warrant Officer Dyer is appointed as Regimental Sergeant Major of Headquarters, Australian Army Cadets.
Warrant Officer Dyer’s operational experiences include deployments to Operation TAMAR, Rwanda 1995; Operation WARDEN, East Timor 1999; and Operation TANAGER, East Timor 2001, and Operation ASTUTE to Timor Leste in 2006. For his performance as the Battle Group Radio Signals Sergeant (2006), he was awarded a Silver Commendation by the Deputy Chief of Joint Operations.
In his civilian role, Warrant Officer Dyer has been supporting the Veteran community through his work as an Ex-ADF Peer Worker with Open Arms, Veterans and Families Counselling.
Warrant Officer Dyer and his wife, Sharon, have a combined family of six children aged twenty-two to thirty-two and eight grandchildren. Warrant Officer Dyer and his wife enjoy exploring Australia by caravan and motorcycles.
