Brigadier David McCammon

Commander, Australian Army Cadets

Brigadier McCammon assumed his current appointment as Commander Australian Army Cadets in January 2025.

The Commander Australian Army Cadets is responsible to the Chief of Army for the safety, governance, judicious use of resources and proper execution of the cadet Program.  He has command responsibility for all Defence personnel involved with the Program and retains responsibility for the acceptance and conduct of all volunteers and cadets.

Previous senior appointments include: Commander 3rd Brigade, Director INDOPAC Operations, Joint Operations Command, Commandant Combined Arms Training Centre (CATC); Director Soldier Career Management (SCMA); senior career adviser SCMA; SO1 Combat in Future Force Development, Army Headquarters; and a secondment to the Force Structure Review Team in 2014, as part of the Department’s team that delivered the 2016 Defence White Paper.

Staff appointments include Headquarters Training Command (HQTC-A) where he served as the Staff Officer to the Chief of Staff, and Army Headquarters as Aide de Camp to the Chief of Army.

Brigadier McCammon's operational experience includes deployments to Afghanistan, East Timor, Kosovo, Iraq and the Eastern Mediterranean as part of the DFAT-lead response to the Middle East conflict 2023-2024.

Colonel (AAC) Linda Galloway

Assistant Commander AAC

Linda Galloway is currently a Principal at Balmoral State High School and has over 15 years of leadership experience in the Queensland education sector.  This is complemented by a raft of educational qualifications including a Masters of Business Administration and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Linda has a passion for volunteering for the Australian Army Cadet (AAC) program for over 25 years and has been involved with the Australian Army Cadets since 1997 when she started with the 14 Regional Cadet Unit, Blackwater.  Linda was the Officer Commanding of the unit until 2012, until she was appointed at the Staff Officer Grade 2 Training for North Queensland Brigade.  She was awarded the Australia Day Medallion for her services to the Australian Army Cadets in 2017.  In 2018, Linda was successful in gaining the position of Assistant Commander South Queensland at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (AAC).  

She firmly believes that the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Cadets is the premier youth development organisation and one which develops the youth of Australia to become better citizens and help achieve their own goals and ambitions. Specifically, Linda’s commitment for the AAC has been demonstrated over the years at a unit, brigade and national level.

Warrant Officer Class One Andrew Dyer

National Regimental Sergeant Major - Australia Army Cadets

Warrant Officer Class One Andrew Dyer is the National Regimental Sergeant Major - Australian Army Cadets.

The National Regimental Sergeant Major is a key advisor to the Commander Australian Army Cadets. His role is to ensure that standards of all staff are maintained, to undertake assurance on behalf of the Commander and to provide direct feedback on any issue of concern that he believes should be brought to the attention of the Commander.

Warrant Officer Andrew Dyer  enlisted into the Australian Regular Army on 15 September 1992 as a rifleman in the Royal Australian Infantry Corps. At the completion of initial employment training, he was posted to the 2nd/4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment in Townsville.

Warrant Officer Dyer fulfilled positions as the Recruiting Officer and Platoon Commander for Bravo Company, 42nd Battalion, The Royal Queensland Regiment, as the Signals Platoon Sergeant 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and later posted to the Combat Training Centre as an Observer Trainer where he trained and mentored soldiers for deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Warrant Officer Dyer has also completed roles including; Training Warrant Officer of Delta Company, 31st/42nd Battalion, The Royal Queensland Regiment; Rehabilitation Warrant Officer and Company Sergeant Major for Administration Company of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment. 

in 2019, Warrant Officer Dyer was appointed as Regimental Sergeant Major of Headquarters North Queensland, Australian Army Cadets Brigade. In 2024 he assumed the role of Army Transitions Warrant Officer with Transfer and Transitions Detachment North Queensland. Commencing in 2025, Warrant Officer Dyer is appointed as Regimental Sergeant Major of Headquarters, Australian Army Cadets.

Warrant Officer Dyer’s operational experiences include deployments to Rwanda in 1995 and East Timor in 1999; 2001 and 2006.
